Brian and I spent Saturday getting into the Christmas spirit at the Konstanz Weihnactsmarket (Christmas Market). We took the Katamarran over to Konstanz for the day and met up with a group of friends... We then spent the day strolling through the market, checking out the merchandise in all of the stalls and booths, eating Rotewurst mit Brot (Wurst with bread... a very German meal! :)), drinking Fuerzangenbowle, enjoying all of the Christmas decorations and music, and simply soaking up the holiday atmosphere... There was lots of shopping, lots of singing, lots of laughter... What a great way to celebrate the holidays! :)
Brian spotted this seagull as we were getting off the Katamarran in Konstanz... It's almost as if he's saying, "What you looking at?!?!" :)

So, I realize that I've informed you all about Gluhwein and how it's the typical drink during the holidays and at the Christmas Markets... Well, they also have another popular holiday drink called Feuerzangenbowle... Quite tasty!
Feuerzangenbowle is a type of mulled wine. They then place a sugar cube that has been soaked in rum (I believe... or some type of liquor) on the lip of the mug. The sugar cube is set on fire and as it burns, it turns into a syrup which slowly drips into your drink... Yum! :) Here's a picture of our first mug of Feuerzangenbowle... If you look closely, you'll see that the sugar cubes are burning... I definitely recommend this drink if you ever get a chance to visit a German Christmas Market! :)

Ok, so the one thing we've noticed is that they LOVE this decoration over here... Santa Claus climbing up the side of a building. See, in the U.S., we believe that Santa comes into the house by the chimney... Well, I guess that since they don't have that many chimneys over here (being that most people live in apartments), Santa has to climb up the side of the house... In my opinion, the decoration appears rather creepy... It reminds me of a burglar that is trying to get in! :) Either way, this office building looks like an invasion of Santa Clauses are trying to get in... Again, rather creepy! :)

One of the many candy/sweets stands that are set up throughout the market... They remind me of little gingerbread houses... Very cute! :)
